. GDF Suez unit to invest 1.2 billion euros in Dutch power plant

Electrabel, the Belgian unit of French power group GDF Suez said on Monday it will invest 1.2 billion euros (1.68 billion dollars) in a biomass and coal energy plant in Rotterdam.

The Dutch 800 megawatt plant will produce 25 percent less carbon dioxide, believed responsible for recent global warming, than a conventional unit, Electrabel said.

The new plant should be completed by 2013, it added.
